School Hours: 7:50 a.m. – 2:40 p.m.

On selected dates, generally Wednesdays, APS follows an early release schedule.  On those days, students are dismissed at 12:20 pm.

Attendance Information

Daily attendance at school is very important for your child’s academic progress.  If your child is absent from school, please contact us through the attendance hotline or email.

Tardiness: Students who arrive at school after 8:50 am are considered late and must come to the office for a late pass before going to their class.

Reporting absences ParentVUE: This new feature will appear as a blue button titled “Report Absence”. Please provide a detailed note explaining the reason. If you are reporting your student as sick, please list the symptoms your student is experiencing.

Attendance email: Send an email to carlinsprings.attendance@apsva.us and provide the child’s full name, teacher, and reason for absence.

Attendance line: Call to 703-228-6647. Leave a message with the child’s full name, teacher, and reason for the absence. Excused Absences: Illness/ Death/Medical & Dental Appts./ Religious Holidays. Unexcused Absences: Family Trips/ Child Care Problems/ Oversleeping/ Non-School Related Activities/ Traffic-related Delays/ Missed Bus.
