School Family Engagement Opportunities throughout the 2023-2024 School Year

August 24, 2023 – Open House – Families are invited to visit their child’s classroom and meet the teachers and staff at the school building.

September 6, 2023 – Back to School Night – Families meet grade level teams and receive information about the school year and instructional focus areas.  

September 27, 2023 – Family Chat – Welcome and school orientation; essential information to have a successful school year; how to engage with our school; hear about after school opportunities; learn who to contact if you would like support for your child or family; important dates for the year.

September 29, 2023 – Welcome Back Picnic – A fun evening of activities and food;  a chance to meet other families and staff in a welcoming and casual environment; make crafts and take home free books.

October 11, 2023 – Family Chat – Getting ready for parent teacher conferences; learn about this year’s assessments and how to use this information to support your child; how to prepare for your parent teacher conference. 

October 19-20, 2023- Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences – Families meet 1-to-1 with the teacher to discuss child’s learning.

November 8, 2023 – Principal Coffee Chat – talk with the Principal about topics that interest families and caregivers.

November 13, 2023 – Family Tech Chat (morning and evening sessions offered) – Learn more about how school iPads are used for learning; how to use the school iPad at home; and about internet safety, social media, and more.

November 16, 2023 – Family Chat  – How to understand your child’s report card; new report card system; and how to view the report card in ParentVUE.

December 4, 2023 – Family Chat (virtual) – How to understand the APS pathway for Carlin Springs students and yours options for middle school. 

December 11, 2023 – Family Tech Chat (morning and evening sessions offered) – Learn more about how school iPads are used for

learning; how to use the school iPad at home; and about internet safety, social media, and more.

January 2024 Family Chat – Canceled due to snow.

January 30, 2024 – Title I Family Engagement Meeting – Learn about Title I and give input on our School-Family Partnership Principles

February 12, 2024 – Family Tech Chat (morning and evening sessions offered) – Learn more about how school iPads are used for learning; how to use the school iPad at home; and about internet safety, social media, and more.

February 14, 2024 Family Chat – How to Support Your Growing Readers at Home, understanding our English Learner Program and planning ahead for summer camp and summer schools registration.

March 8, 2024 – International Night – A PTA sponsored event that embodies the diverse cultures that make up our school community and brings us together to share food, traditions and more!

March 14-15, 2024 – Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences – Families meet 1-to-1 with the teacher to discuss child’s learning.

April 4, 2024 – Family Academic Night – Bring the whole family to have fun while learning games and activities you can do at home to strengthen your reading, math and science skills.
